LED colours

The SmartBroom’s sleep/wake button will glow various colours to indicate device state.

While no USB cable is connected:

  • Gently ‘breathing’ white: SmartBroom is broadcasting, waiting for an app to connect

  • Solid blue: SmartBroom is connected to an app

  • Flashing blue: SmartBroom is actively collecting sweep data

While a powered USB cable is connected:

  • Flashing red: SmartBroom battery is charging (0-90%)

  • Flashing green: SmartBroom battery is charging (90-100%)

  • Solid green: SmartBroom battery is fully charged

Connect to your SmartBroom

Make sure your SmartBroom is properly installed on a supported broom, with a pad securely affixed

Before starting a sweep you may optionally add:

  • The sweeper’s name

  • Notes on the current sweep

  • A custom file-name to identify the data later

Tap ‘Start New Sweep’ to begin data collection

With SmartBroom 3, the button on the device can also be used to start and stop a sweep. This is very useful when training by yourself, or using the SmartBroom during a game.

The LED on the SmartBroom indicates when data is being collected.

  • Solid blue - ready to start a new sweep, not collecting data

  • Flashing blue - currently collecting sweep data

Powering OFF

To turn off your SmartBroom from the iOS app, tap the red power symbol in the top right of the screen.

You can also use the button on your SmartBroom - press and hold for three seconds, the LED will go dark and the SmartBroom will power off.

Note: the SmartBroom will not power off if a USB cable is connected and the battery is charging. Remove the charger to power off the device.

Disconnecting

To disconnect from your SmartBroom in iOS, tap the ‘x’ in the top left of the screen.

Re-naming your device

When you receive your SmartBroom, it will be named “SmartBroom”. This name can be changed to anything you would like.

After connecting, tapping on the device name, shown at the top of the screen, will bring you to the device details and settings screen.

Tapping on the ‘Name’ row will present a text field to enter a new device name. Tap ‘Save’ and your SmartBroom’s name will be updated.

Battery and Charging

To view the current state of charge of your SmartBroom in iOS, connect with the app. State of charge is shown near the top of the screen.

Charging battery

To charge the battery in your SmartBroom, connect a USB type-C cable to any standard USB power source.

The LED on your SmartBroom will turn red to indicate the battery is charging.

When charging is complete, the SmartBroom LED will turn green.

Note: your SmartBroom will always turn on when a powered USB cable is connected, and cannot be turned off until the cable is removed. This is normal behaviour.
